When in Milan, worth going to Fagus, a restaurant in the middle of a natural environment on the river Adda, just 1 hour away!
There are flavors and aromas that take you back to your growing youth better than any remembrances…Colors and ingredients that worked strongly enough on your emotions to give you the sensation that you have never left home.
At Fagus, every meal reminds you of the Sunday you spent at your grand-mother’s home, enjoying what nonna cooked that day and being taken care by her… this though with a touch of our times!
The young chef Ricki seems to have found the family recipe book and has succeeded in putting together the traditional taste with a modern technique of cooking and presentation in a very innovative way.
Try closing your eyes and let you be enchanted by the aroma that comes from the plate you’ve chosen… get to know the owners or padrone di casa, Valeria and Marta, Ricki’s sisters, who with their enthusiasm will get you excited and hungry. They are well informed on ingredients and preparation, they know their well-stocked wine cellar, and will help in the selection of the wine to suit what you are about to eat. And, all this is happening on the river Adda, in the midst of green vegetation and of the Lombardy region’s history, in a town well loved by the historical Milanese family, the Borromeo’s.
If time, join a tour of Villa Borromeo, an imponent construction by the prominent architect Piermarini, who designed Teatro alla Scala in Milan. And, if you feel like going back to the Middle Ages, take a walk to the Castello which sits on the banks of the river Adda.
